Description: This photo design project is created with the intent to practice taking a good quality photo and to learn design skills on photoshop. We also needed a color scheme that the image had all the colors of the scheme and then the same colors were used one other time in the project besides the image.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): The program I used was photoshop as part of the Adobe Suite. I focused on using a fun color scheme to bring out a simple and exciting message. I used the rule of thirds when I took the picture of the football player. I also focused on the football player by adjusting the camera’s settings to blur the background. I used photoshop to brighten the image and create the design elements of the blue and orange on top and bottom of the image. I used a font that is very similar to the font on the back of the player’s jersey so it would all match well. Although I used blue and orange design elements, I used white text so that there was not so much tension between the contrasting colors.
Message: My message is to invite students who want to play sports and have fun to come join rec-sports.
Audience: Students at BYU-Idaho interested in playing recreational sports are part of the audience.
Top Thing Learned: I learned how to use the quick selection tool to take different parts of the picture and lighten them to different shades. The picture was originally darker and the player was in the shade, but I was able to make the image look clearer and brighter without making it look artificial.
Color scheme and color names: Complementary, blue and orange

Hey Phillip, nice blog! I really liked your photo design project! Seeing your original photo it looks like you did some nice adjustments to get the colors your wanted. The brick wall now has a better contrast for the blue jersey. I also thought the staggered and uneven edge on the blue and orange was nice and gave the design some edginess. It also seems like you matched your font in the design to the font on the jersey which I thought was cool. Overall it looks great! If you ever get a chance you can come check out my blog at https://tysonbeckley.wordpress.com/
Nice design Philip! Very well rounded, Your color scheme is spot on, good choice of font, and way to use the rule of thirds to the max! I like how open your design feels and how your message comes through clearly. Keep up the good work!
